Angela Harnden has joined the Department of Health Promotion Sciences at the Center for Public Health Practice as a Project Manager, where she will contribute to several ongoing initiatives, including VTE, Region 6 Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response, and OSDH Workforce Training. Angela holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Oklahoma and brings over 28 years of applied sociological experience. She has worked at the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, and OU-Norman, where she managed national databases and served as a researcher, program evaluator and project director for a variety of local, state, and federal grants and projects.
Her expertise focuses on research, partnership, collaboration, and outreach, with a particular emphasis on social stratification and populations spanning a wide range of social demographics, including low-income groups, subsidized childcare, state government programs, developmental disabilities, and interdisciplinary program evaluation. Most recently, Angela led the implementation of a randomized controlled trial for the Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP), a national, evidence-informed case management intervention for pregnant and parenting women facing addiction. She is excited to return to OUHSC and contribute to the College of Public Health’s mission.
